How to Create the Digital Products?

Create a digital product to provide a downloadable file to eligible backers. Configure the file, download limits and order entitlement before release.

The current Add Product dialog describes Digital Product downloads for Kickstarter backers. Check eligibility before promising file delivery for another project source.

1. Create or convert a product

  1. Go to Set Up Products → Products.
  2. Click Add Product → Digital Product.
  3. Alternatively, open a physical product and use Convert to Digital Product when conversion is appropriate.
  4. Enter the name, description, unique SKU and product images.

Select Digital Product and read the eligibility note.

Check existing orders before converting a product already used in rewards or purchases.

2. Configure the attachment

  1. In Product Details, check the Attachment type.
  2. For a file attachment, use Upload Attachment.
  3. Check the file name and test that the intended file is available.
  4. Set Time Limited.
  5. Set Backers can download this product to the required download count.

The current file screen displays a 5000M maximum and JPG/ZIP/PNG/RAR/PDF formats. Follow the limit shown on your upload screen.

Current time options include 1, 2, 3 or 6 months, 1 year and Forever. Download-count options include 3, 5 or 10 times and Unlimitedly. Choose the limits that match your offer.

The screen states that the download email is sent on the configured date only to backers who complete the survey. Check the release timing before saving.

3. Set who receives the product

In Associated Rewards, select whether the product is included in a reward and set its quantity for each eligible reward.

If it is sold as an extra, enable it in PledgeBox Add-on Setting. Set the price, availability, purchase limits and eligible rewards. Review shipping settings for a digital-only item.

4. Check before release

Save the settings using the controls shown. Review a representative eligible order. Check the file, entitlement, completion status, release timing and download limits.

For an existing order, the creator’s Digital Products Download section shows access information and reset controls. Check the reason before resetting limits.
